Soapstone has been used as a carving medium for many thousands of years. Our Soapstone comes from Africa, but Soapstone occurs naturally in many parts of the world including China, America, India.

Soapstone, is so called because it feels like a dry bar of soap, is also known by its chemical name of steatite. Soapstone is a malleable stone, with an exceptional density, this stone weighs 3g/cm3. When the stone is polished it reveals its true colours and beautiful finish.

Every Piece is unique.

Each and every one of our products is unique in terms of it's colour and form, to a lesser degree. Each piece is lovingly carved by skilled craftspeople using techniques passed down through the generations.
